Currently listening to: “The Man Who Sold the World” by David Bowie
I’m back in my pack and in a foreign country again! This time instead of me being alone, making new friends and getting on the back of strangers’ motorbikes; I’m with my parents, my grandfather and some more extended family on my first proper family holiday in quite some time.

(The view of San Francisco leaving yesterday)

(The sprawling view of Managua as we were landing last night)
We took off to the airport early, like 5am early, and the journey began. We started in San Framcisco, flew to Atlanta, then arrived in Managua. The journey wasn’t anything spectacular and was rather uneventful.
We landed at 9pm and hit our only snag. As the customs agent was going over our passports, he asked for the exact address of where we were staying. Well, we’re staying with family that picked us up from the airport. That wasn’t a sufficient answer. They found a customs agent and sent my mom out to find her cousin waiting for us outside the airport. He wrote down the address and she came back to us standing on the side waiting at passport control.
Finally we were allowed in, passports were stamped, visiting fee was paid for and bags were collected! Upon walking out we were greeted by family and friends and then spent an hour driving out of Managua to Diriamba, the small town my grandmother was born in.
We dropped our bags and had some drinks and found ourselves climbing into bed exhausted at 1am.
Today we’ll spend some time in Diriamba before heading out to the beach in Pochomil.
